Looking for a classic design for your first sweater? The August Sweater pattern by Ozetta Knitwear is for you. This raglan pullover has a rollneck collar, rolled hem, and rolled cuffs. It's knit top down and in the round so it stays simple for your first garment. Get ready for fall and add this great basic to your wardrobe.

Class Schedule:

• 10/10: Measure gauge swatch, calculate size and cast on. Begin yoke and raglan shaping using German Short Rows while working increases.
• 10/17: Check in and continue raglan shaping.
• 10/31: Separate sleeve stitches from the body and continue knitting the body in the round. Pick up stitches along the neckline and work the rollneck collar.
• 11/14: Begin sleeves. Discuss cuff/hem and bind off.

Note: The amount of time to complete the sweater will be dependent on the size knitted and time you devote to knitting each day/week. 

Materials to bring or for purchase:  

• Purchase a copy of the pattern here
• 400 (400) 450 (450) 500 (500) (550) (600) 600 grams of worsted weight yarn, depending on size knitted.
• Size 8 US 16" circular needle (for collar and sleeves), size 8 US 24", 32" or 40" circular needles(for body), size 7 US 24", 32", or 40" circular needle (for rolled hem and cuffs)
  • These needle sizes are suggested by the pattern. Please note that these sizes can change for you based on your gauge. If you are unsure about your gauge, come to class with your gauge swatch to discuss before purchasing all needles (see swatch homework below).
• Waste yarn or Barber cord
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle

***Homework before first class*** Please come to class having knit and blocked a stockinette swatch. Cast on 22 stitches using size 8 US needles. Knit 32 rows in stockinette stitch (knit on the RS and purl on the WS) and bind off. Soak the swatch for 20 minutes in a bowl of cool water. Remove the swatch and gently squeeze it to remove excess water, and lay flat to dry.
