Cabled Hat


Ready to level up your knitting? Cables it is! We will be knitting the Gwedenn Hat by Solenn Couix-Loarer. In this two part series, you will learn to knit cables, twisted stitches and how to follow a charted pattern. You will also learn the necessary decreases to maintain the cabled pattern at the top of the hat.

Materials to bring or purchase: 

  • Download the free pattern here
  • 126-218yds of worsted weight yarn (depending on size knitted)
  • Size 6 US 16", 7 US 16" circular needles and size 7 US dpns
  • Cable needle
  • Stitch markers
***Homework***
Prior to class, please cast on 84(96, 112) stitches with your 6 US 16" circular needles (see pattern for the cast on that corresponds to your size). Join in the round and complete the 1x1 ribbing until work measures 4(4.74, 4.74) inches from the cast on edge. You may also opt for 1x1 ribbing until work measures 2(2.5, 2.5) inches from the cast on edge if you prefer a non-folded brim.
